I would love to get my hands on some of these as uncompiled courses. Some of them have some really good potential, just lacking a touch here and there

Second Weekly Venue
Kimisarazu Golf Links

Where are we?
Chiba Japan
Image

Staying in Japan for our final event in the far east, we go near Tokyo to Chiba, where we are playing Kimisarazu Golf Links which I think is a real world course. Its 6894 yards, par 72, and comes again from Twilight Express. Aside from missing extra sounds and eye candy, the course is a solid challenge, and I really enjoy the rolling fairways and challenging greens. The distance should contribute to a good score if you can remain accurate, and as for many of these Twilight Express courses, the hazards are not 'in your face'

A couple of touch ups, and a higher quality real background, and this course could really be something.

Enjoy!

WorldSwing Week 27
PGA Signature Event
The Arnold Palmer Invitational: Bay Hill Club

Where are we?
Central Florida
Image

Another PGA signature event has us flying by lightning from Japan to central Florida to play the famous Bay Hill Club designed by Arnold Palmer and brought to life for JN6 in 2010 by Terry Armstrong. This is a JN6 classic and if you played with me last year you will remember it well:
https://golfsimclubhouse.com/forum/view ... 288#p12288

We are going to play in a wee bit of soft conditions this time and unlike last year, we get the medium winds instead of Strong and Gusty, so it should be a fair round of golf. Its 7466 yards and par 72, and is a great design of the real course. This year, Scotty Scheffler dominated the event, leading the field by five strokes for his second victory here in three years.

From the Bay Hill website itself:
"Renowned for having been the winter home of golf legend, Arnold Palmer, the Bay Hill Club & Lodge combines superb meeting facilities, attentive staff and world-class golf in an exclusive club setting. Whether coming to Bay Hill for business or pleasure, be assured every member of our staff is committed to making your stay a memorable one."

My daughter’s boyfriend played here last year about 2 weeks before the Bay Hill invitational and brought me back a really great shirt from the clubhouse. Good stuff.

Let's have a good time on our one round this year.

I prefer Terry’s 1996 version of this course.

Designer Break: Terry Armstrong
Mauna-Kea

Its time for our third designer break, this time to celebrate Terry Armstrong, who has graced our catalog with a really large collection of golf courses to enjoy. Without his work, playing along with the real PGA tour would be very difficult as so many courses would be missing. This time, we are playing Mauna-Kea, a very famous and celebrated real world Robert Trent Jones design, often rated as a top golf course in the US. The land was purchased by Laurance S. Rockefeller in the early 60's with a vision to create a major tourist destination and he hired the right guy to get the job done.

Terry's version of the course released in 2009, and I think its one of his best courses. He really does know how to do Hawaii!

I added the course to the available downloads here at the club house.

If anyone has courses not found here, please feel free to send to me or post up here and I'll make sure to put them in the directory! I actually do remember this version of the course, and it really had charm.

Designer Break: Terry Armstrong
Poppy Hills

Terry Gave us a really nice version of Poppy Hills just a couple of years ago, april 2021. How lucky we are to have designs still offered decades after the creation of JN6. Here, the course is 6985 yards from the black and par 71. It is really hard in the strong winds, and so far, after a round on Pin 2, I will tell you that putting can run from easy to impossible depending on the hole. You are going to want to come in accurately and close. Fairways can be tight at times, but you will be okay if you keep the ball on short grass.

According to Terry, Poppy Hills is one of just seven Pebble Beach golf courses and it was opened in 1986, designed by Robert Trent Jones, and redesigned in 2013. Golf Digest has rated it in the top 100 best public golf courses (62nd in 2018).

Today, green fees are $325.00

WorldSwing Week 28
PGA Signature Event
The Players Championship: TPC Sawgrass

We move back to Florida for our PGA signature round at TPC Sawgrass. This version which we played last year is a fantastic version from Reel Golf Design. There have been several versions of the course, including a great one by Terry Armstrong, but this version I think to be definitive, by a designer who has been to the course many times and knows the lay of the land.

If you played with me last year, you will remember playing here and if you are familiar with the course in general, you will know why its so famous. The island green number 17 of course holds most of the attention for the event fan, but the entire course is a challenge making it a workout.

I always enjoy playing here.
