Player of the Year?
Player of the Year?
Who truly deserves the title of Player of the Year in the world of golf? Is it based solely on tournament wins, or should factors like sportsmanship and community involvement also be considered? Let's discuss and debate the criteria for this prestigious award.
Re: Player of the Year?
To my taste, it's neck and neck between Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffle. Advantages to Xander, as his two majors still outweighs (in my opinion) a major and the Olympic gold. The Olympic field just isn't deep enough yet. Hopefully by 2028.
Re: Player of the Year?
The Olympic field will never be as strong as a Major or any special event because many Nations participate and several of those Nations just don't have a top tier golfer. The Olympics did feature 8 of the World's top 10 ranked golfers.
As to player of the year Xanders only wins are the 2 Majors which can put him in the running with a strong playoff run. That being said Scottie's won 7 times including The Masters, The Players Championship, The Arnold Palmer Invitational, The RBC Heritage, The Memorial, The Travelers
and Olympic Gold Medal. Thats 1 Major 1 considered the 5th Major and 4 tournaments that are ELITE and have very strong fields. Scottie is your player of the year to date. Both players seem to be polite and well respected.

Re: Player of the Year?
I agree with what Steve said. Scottie Scheffler player of the year.
