Blends

Are there any good tutorials for doing texture blends using Photoshop?

What I did to create blends was to put the two textures on top of each other in separate layers and on the top layer use the dissolve blend mode and set the opacity to whatever looks good. This might involve some guess and check by creating a blend and trying it out in the architect. Sometimes I used other blend modes so you can play around with that too but most of the time I used dissolve. On The Ridges I think I did a blend for every 10% opacity on the rough to dry rough transition. This looks great, you see no seam lines, but it gets hard to manage so many shapes as far as avoiding crossing each other in narrow areas. On Peninsula State Park I think I only did three blends and you can see the lines when you're right on top of them but it looks seamless in the distance. Maybe somewhere in between would have been the perfect balance.
