Wit & Wisdom of Golf
Re: Wit & Wisdom of Golf
The only sure way to find a drive sliced deep into the woods is to hit a provisional ball 260 yards right down the middle.

Every day I try to tell myself this is going to be fun today. I try to put myself in a great state of mind before I go out , then screw it up with the first shot.

When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club or two more balls.

I never did see the sense in keeping my head down. The only reason I play golf is to see where the ball goes.

When you select a club for a shot to the green, there are three possible outcomes:
1. It’s the right club, but you change your mind
2. It’s the right club, but in the middle of your backswing, you decide it’s the wrong club, so you hit it too hard or too easy.
3. It’s the wrong club.

After taking the stance, it is too late to worry. The only thing to do then is to hit the ball.

It takes considerable pressure to make a penalty stroke adhere to a scorecard.

The secret of golf is, use your real swing to take a big divot, use your practice swing to make the shot, and always hit the do-over first.

If you are afraid a full shot might reach the green while the foursome ahead is still putting out, you have two options:
1. You can immediately shank a lay-up, or
2. you can wait until the green is clear and top a ball halfway there
