Attire for golfers has changed through the years. Even after jackets were no longer being worn, most golfers appeared on the course with long-sleeved shirts and ties. The first U. S. Open champion to break that tradition was Byron Nelson in 1939 when he wore a short-sleeved, open-necked shirt -- the accepted norm for today's golfers.

Ollie Bowers, a retired Air Force senior master sergeant, reportedly played 9,757 holes of golf in 1969. That amounts to 542 18-hole rounds plus one hole ( perhaps he was in a playoff) . While Ollie played a lot of golf during one year, the record for one week is held by Colin Young. He played 70 rounds one week in July 1989. That's 180 holes a day or 1,260 in one week.
