Monitor or Graphics Card?

Post by DC#1 »

Which of these would be the better choice to make PGA look better? Current game settings are maxed out. My current monitor has max resolution of 1680 x 1050 and a Geforce GTX 750 graphics card. With a game this old is it possible to make it look better?

I'm unsure that a new graphics card would help as much as a new monitor. My 2-year-old monitor has a maximum display resolution of 3440 x 1440.
However, the game won't run with this high of a resolution. I have to lower the resolution to 1920 x1080 1920 x1200 or 1920 x1440. I choose 1920 x 1080 because it is a slightly larger screen then the other two settings. This should help it look just a tad better then 1680 x 1050. If you play other newer computer games, then I say you need to upgrade both.

It looks like a nice Monitor. What's it's max resolution? 1920 x 1440 are slowly becoming obsolete.

would it be better to get a 4k 3840 x2160 with 60hz refresh or a 2k 2560 x1440 with 144hz refresh? I don't play shooter games so I think I would be ok with 60hz?

I'm no expert but 60hz or 144hz can make a big difference in certain viewing situations. If I were you, I'd do some more research on it. Ask yourself do I plan on keeping this new monitor at least 5 years hopefully 10 years plus what will be best to last the longest.

After much research I bought this today for 150 dollars. You are right Steve, PGA will not play on that resolution. I definitely see sharper detail. I have PGA 2K23 and it looks much better but with only a GTX 750 my FPS on a high end course was around 10. Looked great but had trouble playing it. Next is new PC since mine will be 10 years old in June. Already doing my research. Thanks for the help Steve.
