Re: Hempstead Resort and Spa by fireman215 [New Course]
fireman215,
This is an excellent first course.
Two Things to better the course.
1. Recompile it and resubmit it. "Sunspots are too distracting.
In future, always close architect then reopen before compile.
2. Eliminate flowers around a few of the tees where they are numerous.
Groundskeepers on golf courses have enough to care for grasses.
Very well done bunker work. This design shows great promise and I'll be looking for more.
Thanks

I agree with Stan about recompiling and resubmitting. Any time you're going to compile your course, close the designer first, reopen it, THEN compile. That'll prevent the "sunspots" from appearing.
I would also suggest a lighter color for your main texture. Using autumn trees and the dead grass for the rough is okay (IMO) but the very dark green tee-fairway-green complex is quite a contrast from the light yellow rough grass.
Please take this in a spirit of friendly criticism. I'm happy to see a new designer and have no wish to discourage your efforts. All of us old-timers here love having new courses to try and new designers to share their experience and insights with.

Thank ya'll for the comments! Thats exactly what I was looking for is help to make my future designs better! This is a course I did a while back but with the help ive recieved from this site ive began work on some other courses and hope the next one will be 100% better!

I want to say that you have a great imagination The only reason I have not kept the course is because of the sunspots - I think that they also darken your textures BTW. But seriously - the placement of the bunkers and the creativity in elevation and plantings is definitely something this course has going for it IMHO. So glad you are willing to put your work out there - Smak's first designs were imperfect too but he went on to produce some really outstanding tracks like Spyglass Hills. I think you have that kind of potential. You certainly have creativity and that can't be learned

Has this course been resubmitted? I'm still on dail-up so I don't want to have to D/L it twice.

Note to fireman:
When you resubmit HR&S, be sure to rename as v2. (Sorry if you already figured that out!)

Has Hempstead been resubmitted yet? I was just at the courses page and only see the 1/14 (v1?) course.
