Augusta National Par 3 - 18 hole version
Who knew that Augusta National also had a par 3 course? I didn't if not for JN golf!
-------------------------------------------
From the official website:
"Here are some notable facts about the Par 3 course:
The first Par 3 Contest was held in 1960.
Participants in the Masters Tournament and non-competing past champions are invited to play.
The course saw a significant overhaul in 2022. The first five holes were rerouted so that more holes would be adjacent to DeSoto Springs Pond.
There is another, more famous body of water on the Par 3 course – Ike’s Pond. In his second visit to Augusta National, General Dwight Eisenhower walked out into what was then woods. He found what he thought was a perfect place for a fish pond. One was promptly built and named after Eisenhower.
For the first time ever, the par 3 course is part of a video game (
HAHAHA! Well, I don't think they are talking about GBC, so fake news!)
The shortest hole is 90 yards (No. 4). The longest hole is 155 yards (No. 5).
There have been 107 holes-in-one made in the Par 3 Contest. Seamus Power has two of them … in the same year. In 2023, he finished his round by going ace-ace on the eighth and ninth holes.
The 107 total does not include perhaps the most famous of them all. With his grandfather, Jack, Gary Player and Tom Watson all watching, Gary Nicklaus Jr. did this.
Jimmy Walker has the course record, shooting an 8-under 19 in 2016.
No player who has ever won the Par-3 Contest has ever won the Masters Tournament."
-------------------------------------------------------
Its our luck that Jeff Reel brought this alive for us in December of 2014 (a revision from a 2000 release). This 18 hole version of
Augusta National Par 3 Course has the original real world holes from 1-9, the real Fazio additions 10-11, followed by 7 holes of Jeff's own design to make a full day of it. The spirit of Augusta is well done and I think the last 7 fit beautifully with the first 11.
Of course, as you read above, this version is pre 2022 renovations.
Todays round is in strong winds, which really makes this an interesting challenge. If you land the greens in the right places, you have a much easier time of it. But miss the sweet area and your putts will have a read on them brother!
PS, I added to the website the original 9 hole Reel version from 2000. Its here:
