What is the background strip in the library creator for and is it required? Thanks!

The background strip gives any created course a 360 degree view of whatever the strip has, all different depending which way your golfer is facing unless your course blocks this view with tree's or other large objects. Without this your background will be blank or maybe blacked out I believe. Background is most noticed from the tee's.
