Hi Guys,

just about to start a new year of the Old Timers Competition, if anybody would like to join Tarheel and me. All you have to do is play along (no gimmies/no mulligans) and post your .round files here.

Brad, I know I said we'd play Steve's new course, but seeing we have both just given it a few rounds, I thought I'd find somewhere else for us to play this time around. So, I have managed to find a course that I have never played (before today), and it's a beauty.

It's Lone Star Park Golf Club by Alan Koontz. This is a really well designed course, with a lot of course management required and some really good, and I mean really good, design work. Play at your leisure and I hope you like it.

The conditions will be:
Rd1: Medium/Normal/Pin 3
Rd2: Mild/Soft/Pin 4
Rd 3: Medium/Hard/Pin 1
Rd 4: Medium/Soft/Pin 5

See you on the tee.

Cheers

Brad

Just downloaded and played a practice 6 hole stretch and yes it's beautiful BUT CHALLENGING. May have fun with it once I get around to it. I'm still rusty after not playing as much. :bg:

Great to hear from you Mikey. Always happy to have more players.

There is absolutely no pressure to play your rounds in our little competition and your Stroke scores generate your handicap. So, playing one round allows us to determine three results, Stroke, Handicap and Stableford.

Just post your .round files here and you are in.

Cheers

Brad

Hi Guys,

here's my Rd 1 file for Lone Star Park for you to play against.

Played the front nine pretty well, except for missing a couple of tiddlers on the Par 3's, so went and bought some beers at the half-way house to celebrate. Bad move! Started the back nine flat and stayed that way for too many holes for this to be a good score.

Love this course.

Enjoy

Brad

Played Brad, first round in 10 years lol, got better and better not too far behind at the end. Forgot how the uneven ball lie affects how wide the ball flies. The game finally agreed to install on my gaming computer, and I could sit back in my comfy armchair and play it on my 43" TV.
I also replaced the JN.exe file with the HD.exe file, and was shocked how good it looked. No fat players or big pixels anymore. I could use 1920x1080x32 and it looks almost as smooth as Perfect Golf where I have 2560x1440. No swaying trees or 3D animations naturally, but I can live with that.

Glad to have you aboard Goran! Good thing is that your handicap numbers will rapidly improve as you readjust!

I'll hopefully get some rounds played likely this weekend. I had a long trip on the road from Marco Island all day yesterday and had to catch up on two rounds of my tour back to back today!

I'm excited to play this as a preview for the other tour. I have it scheduled as an alternate course in late March the weekend before Augusta. Pretty sure I picked it because it really looked great.

So glad you could join our little troupe Goran. I will input your score into the scoring system and provide an update on how we are going in Round 1 in the near future.

Cheers

Just watched your round Goran. Not bad, seeing you haven't played for so long. Your putter was your worst enemy, with a couple of wayward drives hurting you as well. But overall, you hit the ball pretty well.

The beauty of the Old Timers Competition is that we have three competitions in one and while you may not be in line for Stroke honours, I can assure you that you are well in it for a Handicap and Stableford result.

Cheers

Round 1 at this course. I played along with Brad and it was a good match. Does taking risks make the difference on this one?

Hi Brad, Goran and Mikey,

here's my Rd 2 file. Couldn't have played the front nine any better, and couldn't have played the back nine much worse. Forgot we were playing on soft greens on one hole and left it hanging and then managed to hit the flag with my Sand Wedge and missed the ensuing putt on another hole, meaning on two Par 5's on only scored pars. Not the way to build a great score.

Nice round in Rd 1 Brad. There is nothing in it across all three competitions, but I'll wait to see if we get a round from Mikey before I post any progress scores.

Mikey, if you could confirm that you are competing, it would be very much appreciated. Hope you are!

Cheers

Brad
