Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Hi Guys,
I am pleased to announce that we have a new member of the Old Timers Tour, the one and only Steve "Sundance" Holden! To say I am pleased would be a gross understatement.
Firstly, Steve, welcome.
Secondly, you posted your first round perfectly. I have had a look at it and put your score in the spreadsheet. It was a very solid round, unfortunately damaged a bit by two late bogeys. Nevertheless, your handicap is only based on this round so far, so your Handicap and Stableford scores are very competitive. As you play your first eight rounds, your handicap can change dramatically as each of those scores are taken into consideration. After that, only your best eight scores will count toward your handicap, so fluctuations will be far less each round.
I have also played my Rd3 at Hibiknomori. All I can say is, off the white tees, this course is there for the taking.
Cheers
Brad

Thanks Brad for the regal intro but I'm pretty sure 'the one and only' will be at the bottom of the scoreboard. LOLBradTheDad wrote: ↑February 19th, 2025, 4:39 am Hi Guys,

What I finally did was enabled 'record golfer rounds' and then was able to save the game and u/l but I'm pretty sure in your recent text you said you disabled this function so I might run into some problems. Also, I practiced a little on the course but once I started played straight through without restarting. Are there rules for this? I'm assuming that I have some catching up to do if you could tell me the courses I need to play.
And finally, Thanks Brad for walking me through this.
Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Here is Rd 2 at Arashiyama. Let me just say that the pin placements on this round were way above my skill level and frustation added to the misery. LOL

I went back and it looks like Mcall Cumhann GC and Riverdale GC are the only other courses for this year. Just correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Round 1 @Hibikinomori. A couple horrific tee shots and some horrible putting. If greens like this are common I'm going to need a lot of practice.

Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Should I have called my first round at Hibikinomori Rd 3?

Hi Steve,
just leave your settings as they are. We determined the issue was with the Bergamo course, not the game.
Yes, McCall Cumhann and Riverdale are the only other courses we have played this year.
It doesn't matter if you call your first round at the second course we play Rd 1, I will be able to determine which round it is. These Japanese courses are extreme when it comes to undulations and some pin placements. You won't normally find that on the selected courses.
Cheers

Re: Old Timers Competition 2024
Hi Guys,
just watched Sundance's 2nd and 3rd rounds. Tee to green he was very solid, but the greens on these Japanese courses don't take prisoners. I played my 2nd round after watching Steve's and found out exactly why he struggled.
Some of the pin positions are unbelievable. If you found them on a real course, you would hunt down the greens-keeper and do horrible things to him with your putter. The only advice I can give you is to get your approach shots as close to the pin as possible. That's quite a challenge in itself.
Good luck
