Re: Old Timers Competition
Second round at Brentwood. I found the greens the most challenging aspect on this very well done design.

Hi Guys,
here are the Rd 2 results. Not quite as close as Rd 1, with both Galen and Juan struggling on the greens.
Cheers

Third round at The Falls. Still shaky at times with shot making but a much better round on the greens.

Hi Guys,
a cracking round by Galen in Rd 3 has really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons in the context of overall Handicap and Stableford results. Great round Galen!
Everything rests on Rd 4, so good luck.
Cheers

Final round at The Falls, which aptly describes my performance today.

Re: Old Timers Competition
Hi Guys,
just waiting on Juan's final round and then I can post the scores for what has been a very close tourney.
I have played my four rounds at our next venues and will post all the details by this Friday, as we head off on Saturday. What I will say is these two courses are both very good designs, but both will require you to "Bend it like Beckham", one because of overhanging trees near some early greens, and the other due to some sharply turning fairways. One of the greatest challenges of golf is good course management. Both of these courses will require you to think before you hit. If you do it well, you can score well. If you don't, well.........!
Cheers

Re: Old Timers Competition
Hi Guys,
well, I said it was close, and but for a couple of missed short putts by Galen and two rather expensive holes for Juan in Rd 4 the results could have been vastly different.
So, here are the Rd 4 results, with Juan picking up the Handicap and Stableford crowns in this round. Well done Juan!
Also provided are the tournament results, and, as you can see, there was nothing in it.
I really liked these courses (good choices Galen) and hope that you all enjoyed the challenge.
I will do a separate post about our next adventure.
Cheers

Re: Old Timers Competition
Righto fellas, here is your next challenge, if you're willing to accept it.
The first course is a really interesting design, with lots of wide open space, but several well placed trees and a lot of out of bounds for the wayward shot. Be very wary of the trees on the first few holes. I wasn't and paid the price in Rd 1.
Chaska Town
Rd 1: Mild/Normal/Pin 1/Black Tee
Rd 2: Medium/Hard/Pin 3/ White Tee
Our next course is a Terry Armstrong beauty. This is a real course, so don't go blaming Terry for the doglegs that will have you wanting to hit "banana balls" or the greens that will challenge and sometimes baffle you. Jack designed it, so if you have a gripe, take it up with the greatest golfer of all time.
Castle Pines 2004
Rd 3: Mild/Soft/Pin 2/Black Tee
Rd 4: Medium/Normal/Pin 5/Blue Tee
Here are my four rounds for you to play against. Robyn and I will be back home around the end of the first week in June, but I will have a laptop with me, so hopefully I will be able to keep up to date with how you are all going and keep you all up to date with the scores.
Cheers
Brad
PS: I noticed when uploading the Castle Pines rounds that I had accidentally named them Rd2 and Rd 3. I renamed them, but just hope they are in the right order. So, if one doesn't work in Rd 3, the other one probably will. (Doesn't pay to rush!)
