'Alainn Tr'aigh Links
Re: 'Alainn Tr'aigh Links
To clear the air I really don't care how we display the progress of the course. I do this to generate interest in the game and to let designers have some fun with a group collaboration. I realize that some don't have time or want to take the time to do a complete course and this makes it simple by designing one hole. The idea is to put everything out there for each of you to voice your opinion and then we decide as a GROUP how we will proceed. You guys voted for a BG/horizon. I might point out that it was one I didn't vote for and it didn't work. I spent three weeks trying to make it work but it just wasn't the proper perspective to fit in the design package. I then spent two more weeks working on a new BG/horizon changing the sky and adding a beach/water to it because you guys picked a name that meant 'Beautiful Beach''. These were group decisions. That is one of the many reasons that this is taking so long. Quite honestly I would love to make a deadline for the course. I can do a hole in one day but that's because I'm retired and have some time on my hands and everyone isn't in the same position. All this being said, we voted on how we wanted to display the course and just because a few of us become impatient it is not going to speed up the process. In the future if somebody decides to run a group design I strongly suggest putting a time limit on it but be warned that it will limit the number of designers involved. As for me this will be the last time I run one so let's try to enjoy it and if you guys want to put a time limit on it then SPEAK UP and we'll put it to a vote!!!

Re: 'Alainn Tr'aigh Links
Hi Steve,
please don't get upset about any comments being made about how or how quickly the course is being created. Nobody is having a go at you. I'm sure, everybody really appreciates the fact that you put the effort into co-ordinating these group projects and I can understand your frustration when, at times, consensus sought is not reached. Asking for consensus in a group design scenario is like the old adage "How do you get four different opinions? Ask four lawyers the same question."
Sure, we've have had some setbacks, like changing from the original BG, but we are getting there and the quality that is being displayed is testament to the effort the designers are putting in.
Mate, as I said the other day, you have the patience of a Saint when managing this process and I, for one, truly appreciate everything you do for the GBC community.
Cheers
Brad

To All!
I didn't intend to get anyone upset or insult anyone about my experience with the last PGA2000 collaboration course. I'm sure your course will go much smoother and quicker than our 6-month project went.

Steve, I am positive no one would get upset or insulted by your post or for what reason, at least I did not take it that way
Re: 'Alainn Tr'aigh Links
Still only have two folders guys. If your hole is completed please send me the folder. Thanks.

Re: 'Alainn Tr'aigh Links
Hi Guys, could keep on fiddling with this hole until the cows come home, but have decided enough is enough, so here's a look at Hole 14.
Spanning two dunes on the seaward side of Campbell's farm, and in the lee of the headland where Robert The Bruce was first proclaimed King of Scotland in 1306, this is a drive-able Par 4 which will concede it's fair share of birdies.
But, can you do better?
Grip it and rip it if you want to try, but be warned, there are plenty of dangers lurking. With unplayable lies in the vegetation surrounding the green any wayward drive will be punished. On top of that, the front right approach to the green is guarded by the "Witch's Cauldron", a bunker you don't want to find yourself in.
You could take the safe approach and take a medium iron to the bottom of the hill and try and pitch it close, but don't try and use the adjacent fairway as it is OOB!
Even hitting the green in one will not guarantee you a par, as the undulating green offers it's own protection for this hole.
PS: I have eagled every pin placement, so it can be done!
Cheers

Re: 'Alainn Tr'aigh Links
wow Brad, so Steve let you take on the wildest and most beautiful part of the land while I got the flat and boring part leading up the the clobhouse
Seriously, this is outstanding. It reminds me of Jays crazy and most inspired early fictional courses, but with many years of experience and designing skill added.
