Playing at the Guam Navy Golf Club on January 3, 1982, after a typhoon had just past , Chief Petty Officer Kevin Murray had a 40-mph wind to deal with, and it certainly helped him on the 647 - yard par 5. Hitting on a hard fairway with the wind at his back, his drive was later measured at 387 yards. Then Kevin hit a 4-iron, which bounced and rolled about 20 yards before falling into the cup for the longest double-eagle (albatross) ever recorded.

WOW! A 647 par 5 back in 1982. By todays standards it would be closer to 747 yards.

"If you find your adversary complaining to an intolerable degree of your good luck and his own is bad, it is a satisfaction to bear in mind that, though you have no remedy in the present, in the future you have a very adequate one -- never to play with him again."
