Thanks - that makes sense.
I was already thinking along those lines, but can't get things to line up properly.
I think it may be where I took the photo from, so will try again, maybe from a drone.

Scenery
I'm fiddling around with scenery, and am getting a bit stuck. I have a panorama file which I would like to use which covers about 150 degrees of the view. Given the terrain and trees getting in the way, that is the part of the view that I need. However when I convert it to .TGA format and then load ...

Re: Making 3D objects
Thanks guys.
Right now I am not sure what you mean by the 'image' file (I only had a CO2 file), but I am sure I will work it out.

Re: Making 3D objects
Thanks Chet The link works fine, and with 3D Max 7 I got the plugin working by copying the .dle file to the plugins folder at the install location. The only problem I have is that when I import a .3ds object and then export it to .CO2, all of the colour seems to be lost - it renders in black in the ...

Thanks for the tip on importing DTM data instead of DSM ....
I feel a bit daft for not having noticed that before - it would have saved me many hours of pain!

WGC2011.exe file keeps deleting itself
Is this a license limitation? About once every 2 weeks the .exe file disappears from my system, and the folder becomes inaccessible to copy a new version into. I can re-extract the program to a new location and then copy all my files across, so no lost work, but it is a bit annoying! Has anyone else...

Re: Making 3D objects
I have been looking around on the internet to see if I can find a copy of 3DS Max 7, with no real luck. The only possible lead is to buy a book about 3DS Max published around the time and hope that it still has the CD with it. I have done this and it should arrive in about 4-7 days. Being impatient,...

Re: Terrain questions
Thanks for your help Brian! I will try to document what I did for importing terrain which was using U.K. Defra survey data (which I think was all that is available for my corner of the world!) it was a 2m survey, and the breaks on the green are pretty accurate, so it may be useful for others wanting...

Re: Making 3D objects
Did anyone ever get an answer to the original post for this?
did [Redchain] publish the actual .CPO / .CPM file formats?

Terrain questions
Thanks for the terrain tutorial, which although it was a bit out of date gave me enough pointers to get my terrain loaded. A couple of questions I have though: 1) My elevation data includes objects (ie not surface, but canopy). This means I am having to manually level bulges that are trees or groups...
