Where is Rory?

Post by sandwedge »

Another sleeper finish for Rory at the Player's this weekend. I guess he is still struggling with the equipment issues although he can't be the first golf pro to change clubs after a great season can he? The reason I am bringing it up is because after watching Sergio's collapse at 17 and 18, I got to thinking - is Rory going to disappear for awhile like Sergio did? Will he end up like Adam Scott - decent player that never has quite hit the stride that everyone anticipated? Inquiring minds here want to know - what is your take on it?

The only problem that I saw from Rory at the TPC was his awful putting. He was in the top 3 in GIRs, but I saw him putt 6 footers like Stevie Wonder would! He might have won if he could have converted on half of those. He will get it together soon, possibly in the US Open.

Remember this NO ONE IN THE HISTORY OF GOLF has come close to Tigers 1 in 4 tournaments entered is a win. Not even Jack. Rory will be fine but if he even comes close to 1 win in every 10 tournaments played he'll be in the Hall of Fame.

 You might have a future replacing David Feherty on CBS Doron!

Yeah Steve, you make a good point - guess I don't expect him to be like Tiger; just . . . well . . . maybe like Nick Faldo was at least! That's the trouble with a breakout season like he had - seems like you will never be seen as one who just has potential anymore but now are expected to perform each time out. Hence my comparison to Sergio and Adam Scott - the standard got risen for them after early success.
