It would be nice if we could alter the original architect files and have a contest to see which update was best. I guess that would infinge on intellectual property rights though. Didn't David Lurty update Abernathy Park at one time - say 2003 or 2004 maybe??? Might find some inspiration there - should be one of the course downloads if I remember correctly.

Doron! Been a long time since I've played Jocassee. I like your hole much better then the original. I hope you lengthen it some so I can play it in season mode sometime.

Steve, I'm lengthening alot of holes. The biggest problem I have right now is removing the trees, plants, bushes, rocks etc. I will start a new thread with pics soon, since this is Links' thread for Abernathy.

Out of curiosity, are you guys recreating, or simply substituting libraries?

Alex, I'm using different libraries. If you have played Jocassee before, you will notice how bright green everything is, and outdated the textures are. As of right now I am using mostly Chilton Hills, because it has the checkered greens like Jocassee, but not so noticeable that it takes away from the surroundings.

ADC - I'm trying to stay true to the original strategy, location and length of the holes, but everything is changing from global/local elevations to bunker/green builds/dynamics that we've all learned over the years. I guess that's a pretty good differentiator - it's a more dynamic version of the original. Will post some more comparison shots soon and hopefully it will be clear from those.

Bryce? An idea? Try getting rid of the tree on the right, just in front of the first tee. I think it will really open up the hole, letting you see your options off the tee better.

I'd always thought that hole would look better that way. This is merely my two cents. Take it or leave it, it is meant as an idea, nothing more or less.

Alex, I posted the first pic just to show the newer textures and plantings, I had not moved anything yet at that point. I agree with you, that tree is in the way of the view. I also moved the tees back, and removed the wood around the tee box. The original planting on this course was all over the place. I think Dickson used every bush and tree from ALL of the original libraries!!

Trying to get finished on this so thought I'd update some grabs with planting... comments/critique welcome.

**edit** Weird -it's reduced the image dimensions in uploading which is annoying as you can't see planting fully... you get the gist though.
