Re: Architect problem

Post by Robert D. Wagers »

I don't know if this could be your problem but if you do not use the cd-rom to install the game, the file associations don't get assigned in the registry. If I remember right, the game-download installer-package doesn't set these file associations. Thus, you will need to do this manually, after-the-fact.
In XP, the method to do this is as follows:
1) find your .ach file, right-click on it and select "open with."
2) Then find the architect program from the pop-out menu. If you do not see the Architect program select "choose program." Look for the architect program, if you do not see it there, then select the "BROWSE" button and navigate through the directory tree and point to the architect program.
3) Make sure that you select "Always use selected program to open this kind of file."

This gets done automatically when using the original cd-rom install. It's something about the download package's "run-time" process that doesn't do this automatically, leaving these files unassociated.

This should fix-you-up and prevent this problem again.

I think this could be your problem and I hope this helps!
