PGA 2000 on Windows 10

Post by tdug »

I recently tried the download on this site and did not work on Windows 10. Not sure if i did it right to begin with. I am an old PGA 1999 user and recently found this site. I still have 1999 installed on my computer. Is that maybe causing a conflict?

Have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1021, it may or may not help :)

Not yet tried to install PGA2K on Win 10 yet so would be good to know that it's possible.

You could try it but I don't think you can play PGA 2000 courses in 99. As I recall you could convert a 99 course in the architect to 00 but not the other way around. What kind of error are you getting? I think we've had some people successfully install it on Windows 10 and I would think if you got 99 working on windows 10 then 00 should work.

When installing PGA 2000 I get this popup : Cannot create entry "uninstall string" in key "software\microsft\windows\current versuion\uninstall\pga championship golf 2000"

also get same entry but says "display name" instead of uninstall string.

All the files show up in sierra folder and can play audio files. There seems to not be a executable file to start game.

Do you think having PGA 1999 still loaded on computer is causing conflict?

I don't know, could be, I haven't had PGA 99 installed for about 16 years now. Do you have an anti-virus software that might be blocking the installer from editing the registry? If so try disabling it while installing. People have had registry related issues in Windows 8 once installed so I guess it's not a surprise. Microsoft must have changed some things with how the registry is handled. Odd thing is not everybody gets problems and this is the first I've heard of a problem while installing.

I had similar issues with installing Windows 10. Solved it by running the installer as administrator. You can do this by Right-Clicking on the PGA2000.exe file and selecting 'Run as Administrator'.

I have installed the game in win 10 and the installer.

Installs courses with no problems, but tried to uninstall and control C does not work, so cannot uninstall courses.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Brian
