Do it! Vance Cook talked me into that as an alpha tester of the game; release the ach file and it will spur others on to take up the hobby of golf course design and leave ALL of us with more courses to play with. We debated him, but he countered with telling us...so what? Most of them might suck, but what if we get two or three REALLY great ones out of it, isn't it worth it? I said yes, just like all the others did too.

Go for it! That's why it's there. That's also why I intentionally did 3 par threes, 3 par fours, and 3 par fives on each loop. My thinking is that someone will put their mind to it and come up with a solution that makes one less par 5 and par 3 on each loop, more in keeping with a traditional golf course. I'm anxious to see how that works out!

I've laid down the gauntlet now, so let's see what someone comes up with! Do it guys! We're only talking about reworking four holes for crying out load. THAT's REAL doable.

Let me confess something here, I mapped out this course on the wizard. I tried to vary each hole distance based on a yardage calculation I made where each par 3, par 4 and par 5 would be an equal range of distances over the allowable distance range; in other words; one long iron par 3, one mid-iron par 3, and one short iron par 3 on each loop. Same for the others. That didn't work for crap! By the time you start adjusting fairway hitting areas, approach shot areas, tee boxes and elevations, etc., it just all went to hell and I was basically working with what was handed to me. Which left me with a lot of makeable par 5s and a lot of long par 3s on each loop. Shoot, even some of the par 4s play like the makeable par 5s. There's WAY too many 3 and 4 irons going into these greens. I SO wish NOW that I had started from scratch and laid everything from start to finish by hand: first places the tees, then--out from there--to the fairway landing areas, then to the green....doing the shapes as I went along doing and doing the hole definition. That's the way I did my other courses, but it was SO long ago that I forgot how to do that, so I opted for the doing the wizard to get a quick start....just like a brand-new newbie. I will say, though, for that method: I do love the nice square tee boxes the wizard gives you. Those are nice and I'd NEVER create those on my own by hand and I really do like that look of going up on the tee and seeing those other tees down the line. That does give the hole a nice feel off the tee and somehow makes it feel like I'm on a real golf course. However, the distances in the wizard are off--by a long shot--and not worth the price of admission....in my opinion.
